Autism Not an Illness

In his article ‘Hands off our homes’ in issue 762 of The Socialist Ronnie Job writes about autism being an illness. As an autistic person, I think autism should be seen as a neurological condition, not an illness. I’m going to the Socialist Party’s disabled members’ meeting in Birmingham on 18 May, one of whose aims is to combat misconception about conditions. I hope the Socialist plays that role as well.
